Business Analyst Job Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Fully or partially completed CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants).
Minimum 3 years of experience working within a finance/planning team, including financial analysis.
Advanced skills in Excel and proficient in financial analysis tools and the Microsoft Office suite.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
The role is divided into three main areas:
1. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
Financial Modeling: Develop and maintain complex financial models for forecasting, scenario planning, and long-range strategic planning.
Performance Analysis: Conduct detailed variance analysis of financial results against budget, forecast, and prior periods, identifying key drivers and providing clear explanations.
Profitability Insights: Analyze the profitability of different products, channels, and customer segments to provide insights that support strategic decision-making.
2. Investment Appraisal & Capital Budgeting
Investment Evaluation: Conduct rigorous financial analysis and due diligence for proposed capital expenditures ($\text{CapEx}$) and other investment opportunities.
Valuation Analysis: Prepare detailed investment appraisal reports using methodologies such as Discounted Cash Flow ($\text{DCF}$), Net Present Value ($\text{NPV}$), Internal Rate of Return ($\text{IRR}$), and Payback Period.
3. Cost Management & Optimization
Cost Structure Analysis: Collaborate with the Chief Manager - Planning to analyze cost structures within key departments (Cards, IT, HR, Marketing, Procurement) to identify areas for potential cost reduction.
Tracking and Reporting: Monitor and track the financial impact of cost-saving initiatives, providing regular progress reports and updates to senior management.
4. Reporting & Strategic Support
Management Reporting: Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of management reports, dashboards, and presentations that clearly communicate financial results and Key Performance Indicators ($\text{KPIs}$).
Ad-Hoc Analysis: Provide analytical support for ad-hoc projects and strategic initiatives as required by senior management.
