Position Details
Position: Senior Finance Officer, Full-Time
Location: No. 16, Priyadarshanaram Road, Dehiwala
Note: Requires travel to outstation project sites approximately 50% of the time (NGO).
About the Role
The Senior Finance Officer is responsible for overseeing and managing the organization's financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, legal requirements, donor requirements, internal financial policies, and controls. This role is crucial for ensuring effective financial stewardship, accountability, and transparency.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily finance operations, including cash flow management, bank operations, and expense verification.
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in line with donor and statutory requirements.
Facilitate the preparation and management of annual and project-specific budgets.
Manage donor grants, ensuring proper utilization, monitoring, and reporting.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations, audits, and internal control procedures.
Supervise and mentor junior finance staff to enhance skills and performance.
Oversee procurement logistics, to ensure operational efficiency.
Maintain and upgrade financial systems (QuickBooks) to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, OR Part-qualification from a recognized Accounting Body (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in finance and administration, preferably within an INGO or donor-funded organization.
Software: Proficiency in QuickBooks or equivalent accounting software (mandatory).
IT Skills: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros) and Power BI for reporting and data visualization.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting standards, budgeting, and financial reporting.

Ability to work effectively under pressure and in challenging environments.
